7up

June 24th, 2008 · 1 Comment

7up is the best of the clear liquid sodas.  Not only is it refreshing and bubbly, but it’s not too sweet like sierra mist and sprite are.  Sierra mist and sprite are clear but go down like a syrupy sweet cola whereas 7up tastes like lemony seltzer.  I love 7up.

June 19th, 2008 · 1 Comment

There are a few things in my childhood that stand out to me now.  One is Sunday nights and Ghostwriter, but even more clearly I remember waiting for my father to finish reading his newpapers so I could read the comics.  And in the comics section was a character that remains and inspiration to me […]

McSweeney’s Adds RSS but Still isn’t a Blog

June 9th, 2008 · 6 Comments

I don’t know when it happened, since I hadn’t checked in for almost a year, but McSweeneys’ Internet Tendency finally added RSS feeds for new posts.
It’s great, and a good percentage of what scrolls past me in Snackr is now McSweeney’s-derived.
This is a really great (albeit strangely late) step for McSweeney’s, but their reluctance to […]

May 21st, 2008 · No Comments

New York City is a place of learning.  There are certain skills and trades one can learn here that are impossible to learn elsewhere.  Many of these require practice and rigorous training, while some come naturally once one makes the move and buys one  one’s first unlimited metrocard.

5 Things People Should Know about Banks/ing

April 3rd, 2008 · No Comments

1. The money you deposit isn’t always available for your use right away.  Seriously, just because the receipt has you deposit on it, you might not be able to spend your own money.  Checks have to clear.  The business day has to “changeover” before cash is even counted in your ACTUAL USABLE balance.
2. Get web banking.  You […]

Complicated feelings and observations about Hoods.

March 31st, 2008 · 1 Comment

Hoods are prevalent in modern society, much like the pocket. Hoods however, are not external, provide shelter, and allow misanthropes to hide in their comforting shadow. Sometimes hoods protect heads from raindrops and snowflakes. Throughout history, hoods in various forms have provided both sexes with the aforementioned protection. Another, more recent […]

“The wonderful world of music” or better yet, “Holy fuck! New Yawk Sit-AY!”

March 18th, 2008 · 4 Comments

Today on the train into work I was literally sandwiched between Seldon Hunt (black metal graphic artist revolutionary) and Tim Harrington (Les Savy Fav beatnik crazy).
To put this into perspective, I was sandwiched between these two men:

Keep in mind that Mr. Fav was not covered in filth, and Mr. Earth was still 7 feet tall.
