Gender specific INSOLES

July 11th, 2008 · No Comments

Yesterday I bought insoles, today they’re in my shoes.  I have been wearing these shoes, insoles inside, for approximately one hour and a half and they are vastly improved.  My walk to work used to hurt a little, just from my shoes, and today I walked faster, and yes, even bouncier.  One thing that was a little weird when i purchased my insoles:

They have separate insoles for men and women.  Which makes sense, because women’s feet are generally smaller than men’s feet, and cutting insoles to fit in your shoes sucks.  I decided to buy the female insoles, and when I looked closer I was a little surprised- the insoles marketed to women were packaged in little clear purses.

Not only is this a waste of plastic, but I felt a little insulted that the producers of these insoles felt the only way I, as a woman, would buy their special “girl soles” would be if they had pink on the outside, and were inside a clear purse-thing.  While I do appreciate insoles designed to fit inside my flats and my work shoes, I don’t appreciate the advertising shtick.

They had ones specifically for high heels too.  those ones were tiny and the one of the qualifiers was “discrete”.  In my opinion, if you decide to wear heels, prepare to be uncomofortable.  But these insoles were definitely better looking, the ones I bought have little flowers like, embossed on them.  But they’re going under my feet, and I am walking on them everyday so I don’t really think the flowers are all that neccessary.
