May is almost over and even though that means I have to pay my June rent and my June student loan payment, it still means summer is almost here. This is my first post collegiate summer which means a few things- investing in some summer friendly work clothes and finding things to do in New York that will remind me of those long gone carefree days when school would be over and I would be on vacation for what seemed like interminable months, eating freezie pops and having club meetings in my parent’s shed. One thing New York has is the river to river festival. Going to the seaport kind of feels like 6 Flags without the rides. This year’s schedule isn’t really exciting, but hearing whichever act is playing gets kind of difficult so I guess there isn’t much of a difference who’s playing. Unless they decide to get Battles again.
Every Tuesday at McCarren park Pool there is a free movie screening. I don’t think I’ll go to these unless someone I like wants to go; they’re all cult movies and you’re not allowed to bring anything in with you. Maybe I’ll see Wet Hot American Summer on July 22. OR MAYBE I WILL GET IT OFF NETFLIX AND FIGURE OUT A WAY TO GET MY TV ON THE ROOF while eating cheap snacks..
The New York Philharmonic is playing for free in some parks, apparently? This I will do my best to see- not only are food and drinks encouraged, but alcohol is tolerated! The only difficult part is deciding which park I want to visit.
I plan on having a lot of picnics all over the place. But picnic packing is work, and sometimes I’ll be lazy. Eating outside can only be improved upon if you’re eating sushi outside.
I like going to the beach, because I feel like I should like it; even though I hate having my bathing suit on and I hate seeing all the skinny bitches in their bikinis. But I will still go to the beach and hopefully swim in not too deep water, since my swimming is more like flopping and sitting on the sand in shallow water. I like jumping into water too, so hopefully they can arrange that for me. Long Island beaches!
So here are some things I may or may not do. The humidity makesme cranky in the summer, even though the nice weather makes me happy. OH and we are having a Fourth of July party.
