Clinton: Irrelevant

May 14th, 2008 · No Comments

The medias have finally decided that Clinton’s campaign is inevitably going to fail. Clinton is running out the clock, hoping Obama makes a really big mistake that would cost him the nomination. Until that happens, she has almost become irrelevant; the headlines today are not “Clinton Creamed Obama in West Virginia” but “What Should Obama do for the General Election” and pundits are already calling it one of the biggest political upsets in history. In that spirit, here’s my advice to Obama as he transitions from seeking the presidential nomination to seeking the presidency.

1. Use the ideas you’ve already used, but make them better. For example, the Obama campaign sends out e-mails with videos and testimonials from Obama supporters on why they like him. Make these into a really good commercial for the general. Nothing is more powerful than peer pressure! No seriously though, people would be interested in this, and making a whole bunch of different spots using different people would look really good. Another example is holding more summits- like the ones held on Jewish affairs and Foreign Policy- and publicizing them.

2. Play more basketball! Maybe hold a basketball charity function (like Gus Macker in Buffalo) and play with kids or something. I don’t know. But no bowling, mk?

3. More family face time. The country knows you have kids, and they are adorable. Show that you’re a family man. The olds and womens eat that shit up. (I do too actually; a little girl wearing a cute dress and tights is the most adorable thing ever). Maybe hold a family event in like, Ohio. A picnic?! and bring your family. PHOTO-OPS.

4. Say these words: “People say I’m all rhetoric and no substance. They’re wrong. Here are some actual ideas I have to help fix the country: ….” Then tell people to look at your website.

5. Debate McCain all the time. Point out his mistakes, like calling Iraq Iran (or was it the other way around ;) and his “I don’t know much about the economy” bullshit. Be respectful, but the man is senile. Mention “kids” the “youth” and “our generation” in front of him and he will look even older, more outdated and irrelevant than he already does. Exposing his hypocracy will be key: his lobbiest buddies, his private jet, his stance on tax cuts.

I feel as though Obama (or even Clinton if she managed a miracle) would be able to win this election very easily- Democrats have been polling much more than Republicans, the political climate heavily favors Democrats, people HATE George Bush, and Independents are predicted as heavily voting Democratic. So this advice might be irrelevant, just like Hillary Clinton!
