When I first quit my job at a coffee shop, I threw out a trash bag of espresso-stained t shirts, ripped jeans, and grimy shoes. Thus, I started my life as a “biz cash” woman. My first project: The Ubiquitous Interview Outfit. Getting a good interview outfit is the key to life. I went to the mall and went into every store- because it was really hard for me to find something perfect.
I didn’t want to feel matronly, so I opted out of the traditional Business Suit. During the whole day-long debacle, I knew exactly what I was looking for: a plain, brown, high waisted A-line skirt and a cream colored blouse. For some reason, I refused to settle for anything less than my dream outfit and I’m glad I didn’t. After hours of trying things on, asking my boyfriend’s opinion, and getting frustrated at every see-through thing on a hanger, I found my Interview Outfit.
I bought the skirt at Banana Republic for 80$ and accessorized it with a thin brown woven belt, which looked youthful and professional with the cream colored button down shirt tucked in. With brown flats on my feet, I felt comfortable wearing my Interview Outifit, which made it easy for me to interview in. As a finishing touch, I wore a green headband in my hair.
On my way to the interview, my room mate (who knew about my project and my struggles to complete it) said: “Cute interview outfit!”
