Dogster Featured on ABC News - Should be Embarrassed: Isn’t.

April 3rd, 2008 · No Comments

Dogster is on a self-inflicted PR campaign garnering all sorts of publicity.

Check out their blog post about being on ABC News.

My feelings? I would never in a trillion billion years announce to the public that my employees are such childish burnouts that I had to put restrictions on what they can and can’t bring into meetings.

Especially if I was an old-school social network the rest of us find peculiar (even when metrics are continuously posted).

Right now if I were them I wouldn’t be turning the public eye toward hiring and employee review practices (also all over their blog), but rather on how they believe their network will continue to grow into the next decade, what new features and products they are developing and releasing to stay on top of new startup competitors, and where they tie in to the pet industry’s movement.

That interests me, as a blog reader, social network user, and writer far more than whether or not their employee screening process and meeting procedures can screen out employees who are easily distracted by flashing LCD screens.

One last thought: Could there be anything more Silicon Valley and Anti-New York than “topless meetings?”
