
As much as my sympathies go out to Bragster for coming in second place at the Plugg conference, I’m going to write about the winner:
Simply put:
Viewdle is a white label platform that uses facial recognition technology to identify people in videos.
Check out the demonstration video on their website.
While this platform already seems promising for streamlined archiving purposes (see Reuters use in the image above), the possibilities for this technology seem endless in this new semantic web we keep talking about.
I’ve wanted to see an effective use of recognition technology on images for as long as I’ve been using search engines, and taking it to video is an obviously awesome step.
Wish I had heard about it sooner, and wish I could get my hands more dirty with Viewdle’s product.
